The Chiechamiapfü Mechü Krotho (CMK) today organised its 2nd Jhum Fair 2024 at Chiechama village in Kohima district. The fair witnessed 23 stalls from Self Help Groups (SHGs), churches and various individuals.

CMK Chairperson Neikuonuo Rüpreo thanked all the concerned groups and individuals towards the success of the 2nd Jhum Fair. She informed that the 1st Jhum Fair 2023 generated an income upto Rs. 1 crore from sale of vegetables and fruits and anticipates around Rs. 2 crore this year.

The Jhum fair witnessed exhibition-cum-sale of cucumber, maize, chillies, pumpkin, tomato, banana, Chiechama cuisine, agricultural tools and equipments etc.

Khriengunuo Theunuo from the publicity committee of CMK said that the Jhum Fair aims to exhibit, sell and promote the rich vegetables and fruits which are locally grown in Chiechama.

“This fair provides platform to the farmers especially the women folk to sell the products and also to facilitate local economy,” Theenuo added.

Earlier, the programme started with a prayer by Khriesaneisa Dzeyie, pastor, Chiechama Basa Baptist Church and compered by Khrietuo Rüpreo.
