CMLOA against ULB poll in Mon town

Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The Chi & Mon Land Owners Association of Mon (CMLOA) district Hq has reminded the state government of their standing demands before any elections to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are held in the state.

The Association issued a press release on Tuesday, after the State Election Commissioner (SEC) issued a circular to all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) regarding the upcoming elections to Municipal Councils and Town Councils in the state. The DCs were asked to designate Returning Officers (RO) for the election.

While it did not go into details, the Chi & Mon Land Owners Association was adamant that they would remain firm on their charter of demands purportedly submitted to the state government earlier. The Association has made it clear that they will stand against any move by the state government to hold the elections until their demands are met.

The press release, it said, “is to reiterate, re-affirm and made it loud and clear that until the state government address the pertinent demands, the Chi & Mon Landowners Association will stand tooth and nail against any move of the state government to hold election.”
