Good news. The relentless efforts and enormous contributions of Naga women entrepreneurs will soon find a huge recognition as the institution of the prestigious Chief Minister’s Award for Naga women entrepreneurs is on the cards.
Sources informed that the CM’s Award for Naga women entrepreneurs will be instituted by next year. However, the context of this proposed award is not immediately known at the time of filing this report.
Naga women have been gaining momentum in the field of entrepreneurship and the formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the state is one notable area wherein women are being engaged in various income generating sources, thereby registering the rapid growth of its economic status in the society.
An observer felt that the Award when instituted would come as a big sight of encouragement to many and lead them towards a productive and greater height of excellence in the economic approach.
During the International Women’s Day at Kohima this year, 13 Naga women achievers from various walks of life were honored in recognition of their pioneering efforts and achievements in different fields.
The Directorate of Women Development has been created in the state and the recent institution of Nagaland State Women Commission was well received by Naga women.
