CNC Special Prayer and Holy Communion Service on Jan 15

Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): The Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC) has called for a Special Prayer and Holy Communion Service at Council Headquarters Church, Hebron on January 15 at 9:00 am and General Headquarters, Church, Naga Army at  5:00 pm.

In a statement Rev Seksim Kasar, General Secretary, CNC cited the Bible verse, “The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we haven't been saved.” (Jer. 8:20 GWT)

“This verse is said to be a proverbial. It speaks of the failure of the first harvest and also the subsequent main harvest in the summer. When both the harvests failed, the agrarian state was naturally left devastated by famine. The prophet was saying that God had given enough opportunities in every possible way so that the people of Judah may be saved from the impending judgement of God. But since Judah refused to return to God, they had to go to exile! Jeremiah’s heart was cut so he bitterly cried but help came from nowhere,” he explained.

The Reverend questioned, ‘how many fine opportunities have we been given? Haven’t we missed opportunities during British colonial time? Can we justify that we did no wrong in the past decades of 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and Y2k till date? Didn’t we commit blunders after blunders? Did not God open the diplomatic doors for us all over the world so that our leaders could visit almost all the strong nations? Wasn’t it God who intervened that Indian Army Generals openly admitted that “Naga problem is not military problem but political issue and therefore military solution is out of question”? Wasn’t it God that raised Naga issue up to the highest level of political talk with India? Didn’t God grant peace in the land through ceasefire?’

“Who can deny all these facts! Yet, in spite of all these amble opportunities and favours, the Nagas have not been acting rightly. Many both great and small have gone astray from the truth. Sadly, they have gone after earthly gain and pleasure – both the national workers and the general public,” he stated.

“For how long have we been crying out for an honourable solution and yet continue to live in sin! Who will respect the cry of such a perverse people? No one will hear them. Rescue will never come to us until we renounce our evil ways. History clearly shows how God rebuked His chosen people Israel for persevering in sin. In the same manner, we are also being rebuked today,” he observed.

Further he cited, “The Lord says, “My people are stupid; they don't know me. They are like foolish children; they have no understanding. They are experts at doing what is evil, but failures at doing what is good.” (Jer. 4:22 TEV)”

“But God is loving; He has been patiently waiting for our return. Therefore, even though others may linger in sin, let us not delay anymore to return to Him. When God is pleased with us, everything will be in our favour again all over. There is still hope for us because the door of opportunity still remains opened,” he asserted.
