CNCCI condemns July 13 IED blast, calls for justice

Dimapur, July 17 (MExN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has condemned the suspected IED blast in Chümoukedima District which occured on July 13. “This reprehensible act of violence is a direct attack on the peace, stability and sense of security that the people of Nagaland have painstakingly nurtured over the years,” the CNCCI said in a statement. 

It added that no individual or group should be allowed to derail this peace through senseless violence. The body asserted that lasting peace is indispensable for economic growth, employment generation, investment, tourism and overall progress of the state. It noted that the people of Nagaland have endured decades of hardship and conflict and have collectively embraced the path of dialogue and development.

Urging law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators, the CNCCI said it was encouraged that authorities have already intensified investigation efforts. It expressed confidence that those responsible would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The CNCCI also reminded the perpetrators that the people of Nagaland would not allow the state’s hard-earned peace to be hijacked by such acts. It called upon every citizen to remain united, cooperate with authorities, and collectively uphold peace, harmony and the rule of law. It also expressed grief over the loss of life and extended condolences to the bereaved family, while praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
