CNTC demands President’s Rule in Nagaland

Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has demanded imposition of President’s Rule in Nagaland to facilitate solution to the Naga Political Issue.

Despite 25 years of negotiation between the Government of India and stakeholders, there has been no outcome so far, stated the CNTC in a press release from its Media Cell.

In 2018 assembly election, the BJP promised to the people of Nagas with a slogan “Election for Solution” but has failed to fulfill its commitment, it said.

Another election is coming and that parties will continue to deploy “delay tactics” by making another false promise, it added.

The council further stated that when the ball is thrown to the Core Committee on Naga Political Issue (CCoNPI) it is the bounden duty of the Government to settle the issue at the earliest.

As per the CNTC, another reason behind its demand for President’s Rule is the alleged failure of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to fulfill its commitment.

‘The CNTC is of the view that unabated corruption over the years have led to financial crunch while the government despite of assurance failed to take action on the rampant extortion,’ it asserted.

The rampant extortion has led to increase in price and the common people face the burnt, it said, adding that most of the government employees have not been paid salaries, while there has been no progress in education, infrastructure, law and governance etc.

Hence the current situation in the state can only be calmed with the imposition of President’s Rule, the CNTC stated.

Meanwhile, the CNTC council extended support to the signing of ‘September Joint Accordant’ by NSCN (I-M) and WC, NNPGs in the presence of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR).
