DIMAPUR, MAY 11 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribal Council (CNTC) today expressed its support to the Ao Senso Telongjem, Dimapur’s call for the construction of the foothill road. A press statement by the CNTC’s Vice President, Hokiye Yeptho and General Secretary, Imitinochet stated that “Nagas have suffered enough from the hands of the people of Assam.” It added, “We have enough experience that even for silly reasons, the people of Assam and its police harass the innocent travelers and impose frequent bandhs.” It added, “Within the span of forty years, after the inception of the idea for the construction of foothill road from Dimapur to Mon on the stretch of the Assam Nagaland border avoiding Assam, many governments came and went with promises to the people.” However it stated that the earnest desire of the people had ended in a mere dream. The CNTC expressed hope that the present government would be “serious” to ease the suffering of its people and urged upon it to prioritize the construction of the foothill road “before it is too late.”
