DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): In the wake of the demand for solution before election, the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has urged the Government of India to “appreciate the patience of the citizens of Nagaland” for all these 25 years and the yearn for genuine peace in the region, “which can be brought in political solution alone.”
A press release from the CNTC recalled that during the last assembly election in 2018, the civil societies and all political parties including the BJP unequivocally demanded for solution before election. “However, the BJP breached the trust of the people and filed nomination with a slogan ‘election for solution’ against the will and wishes which is still fresh in our memory,” it said.
The CNTC reminded the GoI that the unending political process has adversely affected the lives of every individual in the state and has taken huge toll on the entire system of governance. “It has heralded in unimaginable cycle of corruption at all levels, where education and overall infrastructural developments were in shambles, government projects are siphoned off brazenly through percentage cuts and shares, private businesses are grossly extorted by armed groups in the name of political issue,” it said.
The ultimate victims, the CNTC pointed out, were the unemployed youth and students whose future has been ruined due to unresolved Naga issue.
Stating that the economic well being of the everyday Naga family has completely collapsed in the absence of equitable welfare formula and governance, the CNTC appealed to the Prime Minister to invite the negotiating parties to resolve the contentious issue at the earliest.
It also reminded the Prime Minister on his assurance to for a vibrant society, “which can be achieved only when there is peace in society.”
