CNWA calls for implementation of RIIN

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 26 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Women Association (CNWA) has called for the implementation of the Registry of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN), and expressed concern over the border issue in Ralan.

A press release from the CNWA informed that it recently completed their 3rd phase tour of Wokha district. “While it was an enriching tour for the members, various pending important issues were deliberated upon with the constituent units of Kohima Town, Lotha Eloe Hoho Wokha, Lotha Yingsung Olongo Eloe Ekhung Sanis, Bhandari Town Lotha Eloe Hoho and Ralan Range Lotha Eloe Hoho,” it stated.

The association expressed concern over many unresolved issues that primarily impact women. For starters, the CNWA questioned the Government of Nagaland as to why the RIIN has not been implemented when it already has the cabinet approval.

The CNWA drew the government’s attention to Ralan area where the villagers’ grievances are ignored regarding the border issue and the threat the villagers face on a daily basis. “It is of great concern and the government should not turn a blind eye to these issues,” it stated. The CNWA further resolved to stand with the CNTC to implement pocket-wise reservation to uplift effected groups.
