The International Coffee Day cum launching of coffee bar was held at Kiphire with D Robin, ADC Kiphire as special guest on October 1. The coffee bar was established by the Department of Land Resources, Kiphire under PMKSY-WDC 2.O.
Speaking at the programme, the special guest congratulated and encouraged the department for taking such an initiative to promote coffee in the district. He asked the department to assist the farmers from planting season till harvest.
He also said that many people instead of progressing decrease and therefore, asked the beneficiary to “hold on and give the taste of coffee to people in the district.”
Lipichem, DPO, LRD, Kiphire gave an overview of the coffee in the district. He stated that the department supplied coffee saplings (Arabica) in 2017-18 and every year, the department supply around 1-2 lakh saplings to the interested beneficiaries.
During 2021-22, the department has collected harvested around 92.6kgs perchmen coffee. ‘This year also department has distributed coffee sapling under PMKSY-WDC 2.O in the district to project villagers and interested coffee growers,’ he added.
