Col CK Nayudu Trophy: Nagaland beat Arunachal

DIMAPUR, APRIL 8 (MExN): Nagaland defeated Arunachal Pradesh by 6 wickets in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy at the KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneswar. 

Arunachal Pradesh after having won the toss managed to put 250 runs before being bowled out in 100.5 overs in their 1st Innings. Fine half centuries from Licha Jhon (68 runs) and Likha Sonia (53 runs) took Arunachal to a decent total.

For, Nagaland, Odilemba with a return figure of 4 wickets was the most destructive bowler. Joshua and Akavi also got some crucial wickets as they share 2 wickets each. Merenkaba also registered a wicket in his name.

Nagaland in their 1st Innings scored 321 runs in 77.3 overs. A brilliant century from Tohuka Zhimo (113 runs), half century from Shamphri (71 runs) and some quick valuable runs from Merenkaba (38 runs) helped Nagaland lead by 71 runs. For Arunachal, Likha Sonia took 4 wickets.

Arunachal in their 2nd Innings managed to put 243 runs in 87.4 overs. Only Shubham (118 runs) and Likha Sonia (30 runs) offered some resistance. For Nagaland, Merenkaba took 4 wickets. Odilemba yet again scalped 3 wickets while Joshua took 2 wickets. Akavi also registered a wicket to his name.

On the final day (4th Day), Nagaland requiring 173 runs to win and were able to easily managed to reach the target in just 42 overs losing 4 wickets. 

In form batsman Tohuka Zhimo scored a brilliant 57 not out. While Hem Bahadur Chetri who scored a century against Meghalaya in the 2nd Match scored a useful 60 runs. Joshua also contributed 30 runs. 

For Arunachal, D Bagra was the most consistent bowler and scalped 2 wickets.

Nagaland will play their last match against Sikkim from April 12 to 15.
