NPF criticizes NPCC’s ‘immature, emotional outburst’
DIMAPUR, MAY 29 (MExN): While acknowledging the steps initiated by the civil society under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) in curbing the menace of tax burden by different factions, the NPF press bureau in a press note has castigated the NPCC President S.I. Jamir on what was termed as “his immature, emotional outburst toward the NPF led government.”
“The matter needs collective efforts urgently for all round development rather than politicizing the issue with vested interests, as that would yield no fruitful result,” stated the NPF. The NPCC while responding to the initiative of the civil society against taxation had stated that the last 10 (years) of DAN government was best described as “chaotic” and had also pointed out that the “huge people’s outcry” was a “public no-confidence motion” against Rio’s government.
“NPCC should have come out with matured remedies on the contentious issue which has plagued the wide spectrum of life, and also retrospect their past regime where the present taxation roots grew,” the NPF responded.
The NPF has maintained that the “concern and the need to curb the burden of taxation at every level where the living condition of the common people and their welfare is an imperative subject for life to sustain as people.” Hence, the NPF stated that every concern individual, organisation or political party must put heads together in containing the social menace without any prejudices in the interest of people.
Also the fact that Nagaland has been going through the test/taste of transition in many aspects cannot be denied, stated the NPF. Also stating that “since ages, Naga society has been democratic in nature and spirit,” the press note pointed out that the NPF was the only political front that has taken up the task of strengthening the pillars of democracy in our society.
According to the press bureau, the NPF led Government has given due importance to the mass based organizations, civil societies and NGOs through regular consultations that has helped forging teamwork and inclusiveness. Their views and observations have become an important apparatus for the Government in taking crucial decisions and formulating policy, the NPF stated.
It also went on to claim that the NPF led DAN Government, faced with the challenge of – ‘changing deeply ingrained past practices,’ as the thorniest tasks, have been all out towards building up a social and political order, since it took over the rein of the state Government in 2003, to ensure a clean and self reliant society.
“With all determination and good will, Neiphiu Rio has spearheaded the Government providing an efficient administration till date with people’s mandate,” stated the NPF Press Bureau.
