Combined ‘Teachers’ Animation Programme’ conducted

Phek, March 9 (MExN): A combined ‘Teachers’ Animation Programme’ for the teachers of St. John School Razeba and St. Joseph School Zhavame was conducted on March 7 and 8 with Rev. Fr. Filex Monteiro SJ, Principal of St. Paul Institute of Education, Phesama as the resource person.

Fr. James Sangtam on behalf of the management gave a brief introduction and welcomed the resource person and his team.

On the first day, the resource person enabled the teachers to realize who a teacher is and what she/he ought to be, informed a press release from Fr. James Sangtam. Quoting the words of Rabindranath Tagore, “Teacher is a lamp who burns himself and lights,” Rev. Fr. Filex said that a true teacher is like a mother who inspires and accompanies a child in their journey of learning. “Every child is a unique individual who needs a special attention and can’t be compared to anyone else…A compassionate teacher not only inspires but also creates an opportunity for the students to come out with flying colours,” he added. “The children learn by imitating you, so teacher has to set a role model for every child,” Rev. Fr. Filex told the teachers.

On the second day, Rev. Fr. Filex taught the teachers the various methods and practical techniques of class room management. He highlighted the importance of lesson plan, which he said is a powerful means that equips teacher to make his/her teaching effective. He also reminded the teachers that their lifestyle should be a channel of inspiration.

Altogether, 30 teachers participated in the Animation Programme.
