Mokokchung, October 5 (MExN): Yet to be paid fares for usage of vehicles during the election to 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election in February 2023, the commercial vehicle owner associations in four districts have resolved to go on an ‘indefinite chakka bandh’ from October 9. The commercial vehicle owners’ association of Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto and Longleng districts have decided upon the course of action after the government failed to respond to their demand for payment of commercial fares incurred during the said election. It must be noted here in a representation to the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung on September 28, the associations had served a 7-day ultimatum to clear the dues. “We have also resolved to accept only pre-paid payment for our services during the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024, if our services are required,” it said. With the expiry of seven days without any positive response, the associations decided for the indefinite chakka bandh. Penalties will be imposed against those who defying the bandh call, the associations added.
