‘Commitment towards professionalism not to commercialism’

Dimapur, October 29 (MExN): Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch held its 10th annual general meeting cum continuing dental education programme on October 26 and 27 at Hotel Metsüben, Mokokchung Town on the theme ‘Committed to dental excellence.’ 

IDA (NSB) secretary in a press release stated that the inaugural function was attended by 50 dental professional and 40 medical fraternity members from various disciplines and establishments. 

Rev Dr. Mar Atongchager, executive secretary, ABAM was the chief guest. He stressed on the need for commitment towards professionalism, and not to commercialism while updating with the recent advancements in medical filed, mentioning the first surgeon of the mankind was God alone. He urged the gathering to remember that the ultimate healer is the Creator alone in one’s daily practice. 

IDA (NSB) Dr. N Moa Jamir in his presidential address underlined the various achievements during the current year specially the formation of Nagaland State Dental Tribunal. The second edition of souvenir was released by Dr. J Tongpang Walling, the first gynecologist among the Nagas. Short speeches and exhortations were delivered by Dr. N Savino, additional director, health & family welfare and Dr. SS Akaba, deputy chief medical officer, Mokokchung respectively. 

In the scientific session, Dr. Nichukholie Vupru, MDS IMDH Mokokchung spoke on ‘Orthodontic for the general practitioners’ with elaborate power point presentation. Dr. Rosy Yhome MDS (Orthodontics) of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima was the moderator of the CDE. 

On October 27, the members visited the first Mission Hospital Impur and Heritage Museum. They also explored the tourist village, Mopungchuket.

During the business hour, resolutions were adopted by the house with election and installation of executive committee members for the session 2013 by election commission with president-Dr. N Moa Jamir, president-elect Dr. Vichovol Temi, vice presidents-Dr. Kezeneile Pienyu, Dr. Chenithung Yanthan, Dr. Y Nzanthung Humtsoe, secretary-Dr. I Simon Sema; and treasurer-Dr. O Ayimba Imsong. 

The organizing committee also offered a token sum of Rs. 10,000 towards the poor patient’s fund of Impur on behalf of IDA.
