A common platform for intending candidates of Ward-16 for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULB) Elections, 2024 was held at New Reserve Colony today.
The ward is reserved for women and Helena Yepthomi is contesting as NDPP candidate and Ane-u Khaming is contesting on NPP seat.
In her address, Helena Yepthomi said she will focus towards bringing basic amenities including water supply, additional sanitation trucks, set up CCTV for safety of women and children, set up of health care centres in the pockets of the wards, extension of passenger bus services, setting up solar lighting, implementation of rain water harvesting among others.
She said these visions have been brought out after visiting all the interior areas of the wards and making assessment on what the people need.
Ane-u Khaming said if elected she will ensure towards providing clean and safe drinking water with reservoir, to realise women participation in decision making by having reservation of women in sanitation committee, drainage and footpath and repair and renovate Panchayat hall among others.
In this regard, she noted that Ward-16 had one of the highest numbers of votes in Kohima, therefore called for a need to be dedicated, approachable and open to people from all the 4 colony panchayats in the Ward. Khaming opined that one's vote is one's voice and to choose the right leader to bring equitable development.
The programme was chaired by Thepfüneisa Sileo, Panchayat member and Vikuosalie Zashümo, President NRYO delivered welcome address.
