Competitions mark New India @75 campaign in Dimapur

Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): In commemorating 75 years of Independence in the subsequent year 2022, National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare launched a campaign on ‘New India @75.’

Under the campaign, a press release stated here that it was planned to conduct awareness in three phased manner on the theme of HIV, TB and Blood donation with the objectives to disseminate information regarding HIV/TB prevention and services; Developing an understanding about the infection and to reduce stigma & discrimination against People Living with HIV/AIDS and TB; and also to encourage blood donation within youths. 

For taking the campaign forward, a District Level Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur and Dr I Moatemjen, CMO, Dimapur as the Member Secretary. Further, a sub-committee was formed to look after the entire campaign for the awareness, publicity and also to screen the competitions under the three themes i.e. HIV, TB and Blood donation.

The awareness campaign was spearheaded by District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU) and District Tuberculosis Officer, Dimapur and conducted awareness camps on HIV, TB and Blood donation to various schools and colleges within Dimapur district.

Altogether, seven colleges including Pranabananda Women’s college, Public College of Commerce & Arts, Sakus Mission college, SD Jain Girls’ College, Yemhi College, Immanuel College and City College of Arts & Commerce and six schools namely, Carmel Hr Sec school, Holy Child School, Holy Cross Hr Sec School, Little Star Hr Sec School, St Paul Hr Sec School and St Joseph Hr Sec School were covered under the first phase. 

The campaign also included competitions on the three themes i.e. HIV, TB and Blood donation for the schools and colleges. In the school category, the competition were on Paint your thought (Face painting/Mask painting) and Voice your thought (Spoken word competition), and in the college level, the competition were on Publicize your though (Poster making) and Film your thought (short video/documentary. 

The screening committee comprising of Dy CMO, District Education Officer and DPO, DAPCU, Dimapur judged the entries and the result was declared on November 2 with EAC (Development), Dimapur as the special guest in the presence of Dy CMO and DTO, Dimapur.
