Concerned AYUSH Doctors respond to NADA rejoinder

Dimapur, July 5 (MExN): The Concerned AYUSH Doctors on July 5 came out in response to Nagaland AYUSH Doctors Association (NADA).

NADA’s statement on Saturday reflected its stand on appointment of AYUSH Doctors that recruitment will be on seniority basis (i.e. calculated from the year of passing degree) against any resultant vacancy.

This, the Concerned AYUSH Doctors said, infringes upon the Article 14 to 18 of the constitution of India. “So on account of difference of opinion, the Concerned AYUSH Doctors of Nagaland was formed,” they said.

They further added that the members are a group of AYUSH Doctors who want all the post of Medical officers AYUSH to be filled through proper process of NPSC and not through seniority basis as NADA has demanded.

Everywhere in India, Medical Officer post is being held under a two-tier process with exams and those who qualify the exams are called in for interview and those who excel in both this exams and interview are selected, they informed.

“But in Nagaland, an open interview with weightage on college marks and performance in Interview with more weightage to person serving under NHM with 5-10 Years will be given preference is absurd,” they added.

They highlighted two statements made by NADA that “No other organization has valid authority to decide on behalf of Nagaland AYUSH Doctors to give representation and publications as it is beyond the organization/ association sole prerogative” and “A doctor or a handful of doctors doing so does not represent the voice of AYUSH Doctors of Nagaland.”

These statements are a mockery of Article 19 which gives the right to freedom to opinion and expression, the Concerned AYUSH Doctors said.

They reminded NADA that any association or person who is concerned about the well being of the AYUSH fraternity and also for the general public can publish article or representation without their permission. “When the Constitution of India gives the Right to Equality and Right to Freedom of Expression, NADA has no right to issue ultimatums as it is not greater than the Constitution of India,” they maintained.

Expressing gratitude to the NVCO for its help, the Concerned AYUSH Doctors requested ACAUT, PSAN and all like-minded organizations and to help them in their “fight for the right cause.”

Meanwhile they also thanked the government for creating the said post and also recognizing the AYUSH fraternity of Nagaland, and requested the Chief Minister to look into the issue.
