Concerned citizens discuss State electricity scenario

Kohima, May 28 (MExN): A meeting of the concerned citizens of Nagaland from different background was held at the NERC Office, Kohima on May 28, 11:00 am where the present electricity scenario in the State vis-a-vis chaotic power supply, huge revenue loss and acute hardship being faced by public was discussed at length, informed T. Meren Paul, Secretary General, Nagaland Electricity Awareness Forum (NEAF) in a press release. 

The note stated that the meeting deliberated on the urgent need to create public awareness to all electricity consumers regarding the NERC’s “Standards of performance for Distribution and Transmission of the Licensee Regulation, 2012”; “Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum and Electricity Ombudsman Regulation 2012”; “Citizens Charter Regulation, 2012” and other vital issues.

The meeting was chaired by Metongmeren Ao, IAS (Retd).  Er. S.I. Longkumer, former Chairman-cum-Member of NERC expounded on the Public Awareness Creation Efforts (PACE) now being undertaken by the NERC and the need to follow up the work by NGO. Khekiye K. Sema, IAS (Retd), P. Sani, Secretary NERC and others also spoke, it added. 

Further, it added that after thorough deliberation the meeting unanimously decided to form an NGO under the name “Nagaland Electricity Awareness Forum” with 12 members to be based in Kohima as headquarter and also selected the following members: President - Er. S.I. Longkumer, Vice-President - Toshi Chang, Secretary General - T. Meren Paul, Treasurer - Dr. P. Ngully, Executive Members: Metongmeren Ao, IAS. (Retd), Khekiye K. Sema, IAS (Retd), P.Tingshem Konyak, Er. Mesekiellie Angami, Kezhokhoto Savi, Y. Nuklu Phom, Neichute Duolo, P. Imti Phom.
