Kohima, October 18 (MExN): Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang today expressed grief and pain over the demise of R. Wizabo Zeliang after a prolonged illness at Eden Hospital, Dimapur on October 18.
In a condolence message, the CM informed that Wizabo served Zeliangrong Students’ Union as General Secretary after which he contested the State Election in 1969. In June 1972, he got through NPSC and joined as Circle Officer (CO) after which he served as Administrative Officer in different districts of the State, including Deputy Commissioner of Phek.
In 2002, he took voluntary retirement while he was Director of Food and Civil Supplies to contest election again. From January 16, 1994, he served as Deacon cum Advisor at Liangmai Baptist Church, Dimapur and from 2009 he served as Head Deacon till his death, it added.
A prominent figure, Late Wizabo was a man dedicated to the service of the society whose immense contribution as a fair, efficient and charismatic bureaucrat and believer will ever be remembered, the CM said. Acknowledging that his passing away is a great loss, Zeliang along with his family members extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
In a separate message, the officers and staff of Phek Deputy Commissioner’s office expressed sorrow over the demise of the former Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Wizabo. He served as the Deputy Commissioner of Phek from November 20, 1996 to June 4, 1999 and was known for his able leadership as an administrator, stated the officers and staff in a condolence note. “A thorough gentleman, we shall remain ever indebted for his services and contributions to the district,” they added. The note prayed that the Lord will give strength and compassion to the bereaved family.
