Conference on transformative education in North East

Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): With an aim to examine and expand transformation in the system of higher education in the north east region a conference of CBCNEI church leaders will be held from February 7 to 9 at the Manipur Baptist Convention Centre, Imphal, Manipur.


Church leaders will deliberate on the theme, ‘Together towards Transformative Education in North East India’. The main objective of this conference, a press release informed, is to evaluate, exhort and examine the role of North East Christian University (NECU) as an institute of higher learning in the North East India Region. The resource persons for the conference are Marcia Patton, LeAnn Snow Fresher, Rev Dr Wati Longchar, Rev Dr Solomon Rongpi, Don Ng, Rev Dr James Brenneman and Steven Ng. The topics for the conference include transformative educationcCurricula in NEI context, the status of NECU and its challenges, envisioning the future of NECU, reinventing the Wheel: bringing the university to NE India. A workshop on transformative education in NE context will also be held. Although the conference is primarily meant for the church leaders, the lectures will be opened to the public too.
