Confirmed: Jamir in by-poll fray

Kohima | April 5 : With the Aonglengden by-election scheduled to be held on May 5, the Congress has exuded confidence at winning the elections with Former chief minister Nagaland and Former Governor, Goa and Maharashtra Dr.SC Jamir in the fray for the state by-election. The Election Committee of the Congress party held a meeting yesterday and recommended Jamir’s name to AICC. The election commission of India has set dates for Aonglengden by-election 2011 that lines up 11 April for issue of notification, 18 April, last date of filing of nomination, 19 April Scrutiny, 21st April for last date of withdrawal and 13th May for counting of votes. The by-election has resulted following the death of Congress MLA Nungshizenba last year. AICC member in-charge of Nagaland Luizinho Faleiro is also expected to visit the state and the Congress is planning to rope in senior central Congress leaders for election campaigns.
