Dimapur, January 3 (MExN): The Nagaland People’s Front today congratulated the Congress party for bringing Presidents Rule (army rule) to Nagaland. Stating that “President’s rule is nothing but the army rule as the Naga people do not need to be reminded of the years of suffering and pain that we have undergone under central army rule”. The NPF statement elaborated that the imposition of president’s rule under the pressure of the Congress, especially the Congress leaders of Nagaland and the Naga people. While reasserting that the DAN Government is a legitimately mandated government that enjoys the support of the people, the NPF issued a scathing attacked terming “the decision is nothing but an outright murder of democracy which is politically motivated to suit the interest of the Congress party”.
The NPF however said it is prepared to face any consequence as we have full faith in the people. It further ridiculed the Congress, stating that it decided to impose army rule just a few weeks ahead of the elections goes to show that the Congress is fully aware of its poor prospects in the forthcoming elections apart from taking this extreme steps to make the entire population of Nagaland suffer for their sole interest. The statement once again reasserted that “NPF will not take this development lying down and will go to the people’s court”.
Boldly stating that the DAN Government goes out with pride and heads held high with the achievements, sacrifices and contributions made towards the progress and growth of Nagaland in the past five years, Dr. Surhozelie President NPF thanked God Almighty for his blessing and stated that “we have done more in the past five years than any other government”. The NPF further thanked the people for all the support and assistance that have been extended to the DAN Government. It stated that “the party is not discouraged but rather our resolve to fight back has become stronger and we are confident that the people are firmly behind us. As always, the people are the best judge and we shall not sleep till justice is done.”
