Cong poll bugle with spl eco packages

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 26 (MExN): The Opposition Nagaland Congress has virtually kicked off its campaign for the next Assembly election slated for 2013 coming out with a specific five point priority to be implemented once the Congress is voted to power. This was publicly announced during the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) joint State Tour which took place in between September 21-24.
The five priorities once Congress is voted to power include generation of large scale employment with special economic packages exclusively for the unemployed youth; delivering all the 16 Congress led UPA flagship programs to the targeted people/area; special economic packages for time bound human and infra-structural development of the ENPO areas; transparency in governance and equity in sharing benefit, both on merit and deserving basis.
According to a press note issued by Vaprümu Demo General Secretary, NPCC giving details of the ‘NPCC State Tour Report: 21st-24th September 2011’, the NPCC President while responding to queries from ACCC unit Presidents assured that unlike before party ticket will be finalized much ahead of the Assembly Election as per the recommendation of the concerning ACCC and tussle for ticket up to last moment by aspiring members or unauthorized members will not be allowed.
The NPCC press note also disclosed that taking the opportunity of the NPCC state tour, substantial NPF members from Moka A/C and Aboi A/C of Mon District and Meluri A/C of Phek District resigned from the party and joined the Congress. While congratulating the respective President of the ACCC, the President NPCC stated that this move from ruling to opposition party is a demonstration for change.
Further as per the tour report, all the Congress MLAs, NPCC officials and party workers expressed their deep concern and thoroughly deliberated on the aggravating situation of corruption, case by case of the NPF Government. “They hold that the most corrupted politicians maybe found all over the world but the most corrupted government is the NPF Government in Nagaland”, the press note stated.  “They fully agreed that the only alternative to this is change of government and Congress is the only alternative”, the press note added and challenged the people of Nagaland to vote the Congress to power and see the difference.
Pertaining to the delicate ENPO issue the members questioned the sincerity of the CM and the integrity of the 14 NPF MLAs from ENPO areas and held them fully responsible for undermining the urgency to address the genuine problem confronted by the aggrieved people at appropriate time.
It was also informed that in all his address to the enthusiast party leaders the NPCC President reminded them that Congress is not simply a party or organization but it is a people’s movement which started some 125 years back. “It is a movement of like minded people who are committed to make democracy a government for the people; to bring government to the people, irrespective of whether Congress is in power or in opposition”.
The President also shared the predicament of the aggrieved people, especially in ENPO areas “who are largely affected because of unprecedented corruption, mis-governance of NPF Government and CM’s favoritism showered on certain section of the community”. The NPCC President also assured that in few immediate cases relating to the department of Education, Home, NPWD (Road & Bridges) etc. the NPCC is determined and will fight against the proven corruption on war footing.
On political issues the President highlighted the sequence of contribution of the Congress in bringing about ceasefire, now leading towards peaceful settlement of the Naga issue and questioned what contribution the NPF, as a facilitator has given thus far. He reiterated that the Nagas are tired of conflict and desire early settlement and therefore, the party will not stand in the way of reaching an acceptable and honorable settlement but expressed the hope that it will be an inclusive settlement. The President reprimanded the state government for the apathetic attitude shown towards the suffering of the citizens of Mon District because of the prevailing fuel crisis and impressed upon the people to realize that this is a government for the privileged few.
