DIMAPUR, SEPT 30 (MExN): The Congress party in Nagaland has rubbished a news item carried in a local media yesterday, which stated that Congress party leaders were shuttling to and fro to New Delhi lobbying to remove the State Governor.
The Congress took it in bad taste and termed the allegation as a “figment of imagination” saying “Removal of Governor is a non-issue for either the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee or the Congress Legislature Party in Nagaland and added “it is not our fault if some feel insecure and lose confidence every time a Congress man goes to New Delhi.”
A statement issued by Leader of Opposition and Leader of the Congress Legislature Party I. Imkong said from time to time, representatives from both the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee and Congress Legislature Party go to Delhi for consultation on matters of public importance to be discussed and to sort out the problems, both at the AICC and at the government levels.
Last time, some senior members of the Congress Legislature Party had gone to Delhi to discuss the non-payment of post-matric scholarships to students, which has already been published and the problems of delimitation in the state, the statement said.
