Cong using power of high command: NPF

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 19 (MExN): The NPF today stated that the Congress is using “illegal force and the power of its high command” to suppress the voice of the Nagas. The NPF in a statement cited the ongoing investigations in Wokha and Dimapur related to Imkong Imchen and Sulanthang where it claimed that the officers and investigating agencies have been “intensely pressured and intimidated” by central agencies from Delhi. The NPF stated that in the case of the Congress candidate, Sulanthang, who was arrested for carrying cash and an arm, the “police and authorities have been pressured to immediately release him whereas Delhi continues to use pressure to detain Imkong Imchen.”

The NPF stated that the Congress has resorted to such activities as “it has no hope whatsoever of winning the forthcoming elections.” The statement further expressed the NPF party’s confidence that the Naga people would give a “befitting” reply to the Congress through their mandate. It also stated that the NPF would continue to stand up for the rights of the Nagas and that no amount of threats, intimidations and suppression from external forces would hinder them from providing their “service and sacrifice for the Nagas.”
