Quit notice’ fallout of failed equi-closeness policy: Imkong

The Opposition Congress said that it has asked the DAN government to revive the Reconciliation Committee, while asserting that dissolving of the said committee has caused a serious set back to the peace process.

CLP leader I Imkong, Congress MLA Taka Masa, KV Pusa and former Minister Nillo Rengma, addressing the press conference on August 25 fervently denied the DAN allegation that Congress is trying to sabotage the peace process.

Clarifying to the Chief Minister’s remarks that the Congress even refuses to attend the CCP meeting, Congress leaders said that they have never refused the invitation of the Speaker, but they only cautioned the latter.

“We only cautioned him to uphold his position as a Speaker, because when we talk we will be talking only politics”, Imkong told the pressmen adding that somebody, instead of the Speaker, should initiate the peace meet.

Asked to comment on the quit notice served by the NSCN-K to the Tangkhuls, CLP leader said that the Congress is just waiting and watching the move of the State government. The CLP leader also said that the ‘quit notice’ was the fallout of the failure of the DAN equi-closeness policy. “It has shattered the whole fabric of the society”, Imkong said.

Meanwhile, Congress also described the State Chief Minister as the most ‘confused man and liar’ and charged the ruling DAN government of breeding rampant corruptions, nepotism, favoritism and family rule.
