DIMAPUR, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee has come up with anomalies in the present D AN government, accusing Khekiho, minister for Industries, for taking over the Nagaland Fruit Processing Unit on a rent basis at a cost of Rs 25,000 per month for 30 years, which was established at the cost of Rs 4 Crores by Nagaland government. Kekhiho virtually took control of the unit by not even floating a tender but by ‘Political decision’, the NPCC Media Cell today alleged. “It was taken over in the name of his younger son,” a statement said.
Moreover, 1000 acres of government land at Ganeshnagar has been encroached by Kekhiho, which is reportedly one-third of the total area and is now under the private possession of Kekhiho, the Congress said. He is also “reportedly trying to take over the Mechanised Brick Factory in Dimapur.”
The NPCC further accused Kekhiho of deducting at source 45% of transport subsidy, out of Rs.19 crores during 2006-07. Canning Industry was given to Kekhiho’s eldest son without meeting requirements or formalities, the note said.
Home Minister Thenucho has also come under flak. The NPCC lambasted that as NPF Bye-election in-charge for Dimapur-I A/C, Thenucho has made a remarkable precedent by being the chairman of Tender Committee in connection with the construction of the 9th IRB HQ at Saijang at an estimated cost of Rs. 49 crores, which is surprisingly 85% above the schedule of rate given and that he further demanded 70% more from the contractor concerned, which amounts to Rs.340 crores
The Congress, referring to the two as the most corrupted ministers in the DAN government, said they had been placed with the responsibility of Bye-election in Dimapur for the NPF. The press note further said that the Congress Party stands for ‘Transparency in Governance, Peace, Developmental Progress and Unity among all sections of people’.
