Congress has swept both the Lok Sabha seats in Manipur with both the sitting MPs retaining their resperctive seat. In the Outer Parliamentary constituency, sitting Congress MP Thangso Baite defeated his nearest rival Soso Lorho of the Naga People's Front (NPF) by a small margin of just 15,497 votes.
Thangso Baite secured the total votes of 2,96,618 while Soso Lorho got 2,81,121 votes.
In the Inner Parliamentary seat of Manipur sitting Lok Sabha MP and Congress candidate Thokchom Meinya got 2,92,102 votes while his nearest rival and CPI candidate (also common candidate of Left and Secular Alliance) Dr M Nara got 1,97,428 votes.
In the Outer seat 10 candidates contested while in the Inner seat 8 candidates contested.
Meanwhile, regarding the Outer seat, All India Trinamool Congress candidate Kim Gangte secured the total votes of 12,741, BJP candidate Prof Gangmumei Kamei with 75,815 votes, NCP's C Doungel with 61,655 votes, Aam Aadmi Party candidate K Zou with 4328 votes, JD-U candidate Lien Gangte with 1085, Independent candidate Amarson with only 401, another Independent candidate Mani Charenamei with 34,995 votes and Independent candidate Lal Momoi with 603 votes.
Regarding the Inner seat, BJP candidate RK Ranjan secured 92,443 votes, All India Trinamool Congress candidate Manaobi got 39,903 votes, AAP candidate Dr Ibomcha with 3275 votes, Jai Mahabharat Party candidate Oinam Jotin secured 1403 votes, Manipur Democratic Peoples Front candidate Dr Tonsana Sharma got 2005 votes and Independent candidate Oinam Indira secured the total votes of 7014 votes. There were 5298 NOTA votes in the Inner seat while in the Outer seat there were 2206 NOTA votes.
