The launching programme of the Constitution of the Alumni Association of State College of Teachers Education (SCTE) was held on November 12 at the Conference Hall of the SCTE, Kohima.   Daniel Thong, President, Alumni Association in his welcome address gave a brief account on the formation of the Association stating that it was formed with the help of people and likeminded members and also with a vision to push up the institution to a higher level.

Stressing on the fast changing and growing world which has led to a drastic transformation in Naga society, Thong said, “Very soon, we will see changes again. It is challenging because values and ethics are going down.” With the deterioration of values and ethics, the respect for professions like teachers have also gone down and therefore Thong urged the members to work together collectively, contribute a little bit more in each of their respective duties and lend a helping hand to strengthen the SCTE. He also said, “In this world of fast changing technology, values need to be built again and that is the reason why the Alumni need to strengthen.”

The Alumni Association was formed to establish network among the past student teachers in order to promote unity and fraternity among the alumni, said Kedosakho, Finance Secretary who highlighted the aims and objectives of the Alumni Association. The other aims and objectives included maintaining a close rapport with matters of the institute by providing feedbacks and collaborating in its growth and development, facilitate and promote the exchange of ideas and experiences among the teaching community, establish linkage among the stake holders and educationists to address issues of educational concern.
