Construction of Foothill Road set to resume

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 7 (MExN): Work to resume construction of the long delayed Nagaland Foothills Road is all set to begin. According to the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), the first phase of the work includes construction of a double lane galvanized steel bridge over the River Sungkhatchu in the PWD’s Baghty Division, Wokha district; and fresh cutting for an 8.5km long double lane, and improvement works on a 21 km long single lane falling in between Tuli and Naginimora.       

The NFHRCC informed, through a press release, that the ceremonial programme marking the launch of the first phase was organised simultaneously on January 6 at the two sites, alongwith representatives from the local civil society organisations, tribal hohos and PWD officials. 

The contract for the steel bridge, worth Rs 2.04 cr went to M/S P. Mha-Tum & Co. The contract for the fresh cutting and improvement works, worth Rs 14.67 cr went to M/S 3S INFRA. The NFHRCC urged the contractors, “who had already signed the Implementation Agreement” to immediately start executing the works.
