Kohima, September 29 (MExN): A consumer awareness program was organised by the Vogue Entertainment Nagaland in collaboration with the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection on September 25 at Phek Government College under the theme “Be an Aware Consumer, Be Empowered Citizen.”
Chetezo Akami, Deputy Chairperson Phek Town Council graced the programme as the special guest.
The resource person, Thukutalu Chizo, Panel Lawyer, Phek DLSA highlighted the aims and objectives of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. She emphasszed on the Core recognised consumer rights, responsibilities of a consumer and the established Consumer Forum at various levels to address the Consumer Complaint.
Chizo further urged the participants to be always vigilant while purchasing goods and services, the importance of keeping receipts, proper documentation and to raise their voices against unfair or exploitative practices and to seek appropriate remedies when the consumer rights are violated.
Chizo also encouraged the students to help protect vulnerable consumers from exploitation in the marketplace and to promote awareness so that consumers can make informed, safe and responsible choices.
Earlier, Ezhotou Keyho, Managing Director VEN delivered keynote address. The programme was chaired by Ravolu Chuzho, Chairperson MPF, VEN.
