Meluri, September 29 (MExN): The District Police in Meluri, Nagaland, have issued public advisory cautioning residents against consuming liquor of unknown or doubtful origin following reports of alarming deaths and hospitalizations allegedly linked to illicit, spurious or illegally manufactured liquor in some districts of the state.
The advisory was issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Meluri. In the advisory, the police have urged the public to avoid liquor of unknown or doubtful origin, remain alert to the possible dangers of liquor containing toxic or adulterated substances and immediately inform the District Police, Community Health Centre Meluri or other PHCs in case of suspected alcohol-related medical emergencies.
The advisory further seeks public cooperation in preventing liquor-related deaths and hospitalizations and in safeguarding the health and safety of the community.
Campaign against liquor consumption and sale Alongside the advisory, District Police Meluri has also circulated an awareness campaign calling on residents to refrain from the consumption, sale, supply and promotion of liquor.
