Phek, May 14 (MExN): The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Phek, in collaboration with the Lephori Village Women Society, organised a consumer awareness programme at Lephori Village Council Hall on May 14.
The programme was held on the theme “Accurate Measurement, Safe Products – Confident Consumers.”
Addressing the gathering, Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Phek, T Aimong spoke on consumer rights, legal metrology standards and the importance of checking quality certifications such as FSSAI, ISI and Hallmark before purchasing products.
He encouraged consumers, particularly women, to become informed buyers and actively promote accountability in the marketplace.
The programme was chaired by Thochusa Katiry, who also delivered the welcome address and highlighted the importance of consumer awareness and community participation in ensuring fair trade practices.
Inspector of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Phek, Er Juwe Pojar delivered the vote of thanks and urged participants to spread awareness within the community to promote a safer and more transparent market environment.
The programme was attended by village leaders, women representatives, Gaon Buras (GBs) and local youths, officials said.
