Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): Interested Government-registered local contractors are informed of a meeting to be held June 5 to “discourage the practice of allotting all tendered works to parties outside Nagaland.” The meeting, no venue or time given, will discuss matter pertaining to tendered works under central ministries and that a forum of local contractors be created to discourage allotment of tendered works to parties outside elements.
A note from Kedi Haralu, Press Secretary to the Nagaland MPs for both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, stated as unfortunate that all central departments like the Telcom, Railways, Airport Authority of India, FCI and other central departments “puts their trust” more on non-local parties and firms with the notion that they will do a better job than local contractors.
“This attitude will change only when the central departments allot the works to local contractors who are at par or even better than parties from outside” the note observed. While noting that the needful technology and ideas are in hand, local contractors are not given the opportunity.
“All matters pertaining to such step-motherly treatment will be discussed and the decision (will) be forward to all the central ministries through the MPs representing Nagaland so that the forum may be registered and recognized by the government of India in New Delhi” Haralu added.
