DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 19 (MExN): The Zienuomia clan of Meriema Village today issued a statement with regard to the circumstances leading to the October 16 incident involving the Pro Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, Kohima campus.
A press release from Kekhriezhazo Angami, President, Zienuomia clan, Meriema Village said that the incident occurred in regard to the contract work under Nagaland University Kohima Campus Meriema (Letter No: NU/ENG-258/2022-1671, dated: 23:02:2022).
It said that as per the application submitted by the contractors to the Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, “it has been made clear that after the completion of work the final bill was not released by the Pro- Vice Chancellor (PVC), Nagaland University Kohima Campus (NUKC).”
It said that the contractors were “deprived of their right as they were ordered not to meet him in the office in regard to the contract work even though the bill was not released.” The press release said that the contractors letter to the Vice Chancellor, NU HQ Lumami “seeking justice” fell on “deaf ear,” and the “contractors on the ground that a worker/employee has every right to receive his pay/bill if he has done his work/duty, stood firm seeking for their right compelling to take this untoward action against the Pro Vice Chancellor NUKC.”
Further the press release said “it has been made clear under both parties that the PVC was restrained to pass through the land of the contractors yet was not stopped nor restricted to attend his office vie alternate roads.”
It meanwhile questioned “why a person seeking for his right is referred to as miscreants;” and on what ground the bill was not released even after completion of work. In case of unsatisfactory work, the Zienuomia clan questioned why there weren’t any orders or directives given to the contractors for completion of work.
“While other party even without half done work properly as mentioned by the contractors, was certified by the PVC and his cronies Chairman CMC and bill was released, why the bill was not released for the aggrieved contractors?” it further questioned. It wondered whether the bill was not released because “the contractors did not give any percentage/share towards the PVC and the cronies.”
It said that a “counter FIR will be lodged against the concerned authority and the PVC based on the aforementioned above within 48 hours on failing to withdraw the FIR lodged by the Registrar NU HQ Lumami.”
