Kohima, September 18 (MExN): The Nagaland Police has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against extortion and illegal money collection and stated that a dedicated 24x7 Control Room is already active and fully functional.
The control room, established in line with the Government Notification dated May 19, 2022, is specifically aimed at addressing complaints related to the illegal collection of money, it said.
The State police reiteration came noting that reports have surfaced of certain organisations, groups, government agencies, private individuals, and unauthorised persons being involved in extortion and illegal collection of money from vehicles at check gates, roadside locations, and other places in the state.
Such activities are strictly prohibited under the law and undermine public trust, disrupt lawful commerce, and create harassment, it asserted in a statement.
The Nagaland Police is committed to ensuring safety and security for all citizens and taking stringent measures to curb this menace, it said.
Accordingly, Nagaland Police urged all concerned citizens to report any such incidents immediately through various communication channels available for lodging complaints.
The police further assured that the identity of all complainants will be kept strictly confidential. It appealed for public cooperation in providing information or evidence regarding such illegal activities.
The various communication channels for filing complaints are:
