Farmers of Northern Angami area under Kohima district have a great reason to rejoice as 10 MT Cold Storage Room have been connected to them on September 28.


This facility will facilitate the agri & allied farmers to conserve their produces. It sent as a sight of security to them.
Courtesy the Northern Angami Chiikehie Society (NACS) for linking such much needed facility to the farmers, which was funded by Department of cooperation, Nagaland under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.

 
It was formally inaugurated by Wepe Ritse, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Nagaland at Vibeilietuo’s Building, Sanuorü, Kohima.


Speaking on the occasion, Ritse urged NACS to reach out the farmers with the provided facility in efficient manner and set as a model for others to follow the suit.


He was also hopeful that the Cold Storage will immensely help the farmers, which would in turn boost the rural economy and also strengthen the state exchequer.


Ritse maintained that such facility would encourage the farmers to produce more and take up commercial agricultural activities on a larger scale.


He also urged the NACS to continue to propagate the message of “one village, one cooperative society” concept for a sustainable and holistic cooperative movement in the state.


Thanking the cooperation department for extending such facility, NACS president Vibeilietuo Kets was optimistic that the facility will immensely benefit the farmers, as many worried on several occasions on the ground of their produces went wastage in the absence of Cold Storage room.

NACS aims promoting village economy through ‘Back to our Roots’


Formed in 2018, NACS aims at promoting and building village economy in a sustainable manner ‘Back to our Roots’


Its mission is empowering villagers with socio-economic, financial self sufficiency and stability, promote livestock and poultry backyard farming, paddy field(AQUA) fish farming, promote organic agriculture farming, especially crops with  GI tagging e.g. Naga king chilli and tree tomato,  provide transportation facilities for free flow of product carriage to and fro from villages to towns and towns to villages, provide free piglets, chicks , fish lings and free fodder for two months, provide material and financial assistance for construction of Pig’s sty and poultry sheds, free transportation of fodder and livestock, find or construct stockyard for fodder storage, to have a mini truck as a carriage of material supplies to the villages etc.


The goals of NACS is to take the people of the area back to its roots “  So that the profession of farming in village is made profitable socio- economically and farmers are held in high esteem having respect and honour for their hard  labour, sweat and commercial success, taking farmers to enviable position.” 


Other goals includes; to build a robust and sustainable village economy, making our villages the power house of Naga economy, promote village growth and expansion and not migration to towns and cities, promote good road connectivity of villages with towns and cities, promote healthy living, healthy life style with sound economy in villages, promote, preserved, sustain in a refined way; our cultural and traditional way of life, how day to day life was lived in our village.
