Councilor Aye pledge to work for welfare of Alahuto ward

ZUNHEBOTO, JULY 24 (MExN): A thanksgiving service of Vikheshe Aye, Councilor of Ward No- 5, Alahuto, Zunheboto Town Council was held on July 23.

Addressing the gathering, Vikheshe Aye expressed his gratitude to the people of Alahuto Ward for electing him in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) election and pledged to work for the welfare of Alahuto Ward and Zunheboto Town. He acknowledged that his victory belonged to the people and assured to continue giving his best service, urging his ward to support him.

Aye announced that, he along with three independent candidates, has endorsed support to the elected Chairman of Zunheboto Town Council, K Herato Sukhalu to work collectively for the betterment of Zunheboto Town under the guidance and support of Tokugha Sukhalu, MLA and Advisor, Food & Civil Supply, Legal Metrology.

Aye stated that the recent landslide at Alahuto ward is the most devastating in the history of the said Ward and Zunheboto Town, resulting in six houses being completely damaged and public properties, including an RCC storey residential building, demolished due to massive soil erosion and simultaneous hilltop sinking and landslide.

Aye emphasized that the magnitude of the landslide exceeds the capacity of Alahuto Ward and Zunheboto District to address, necessitating urgent attention from the state government to prevent further landslides and compensate for damaged public properties. He also highlighted that the approach roads have been affected, requiring immediate construction of road maintenance and protection walls to ensure safety measures for the residents of Alahuto and surrounding villages.

Furthermore, Aye apprehended that if the occurrence of landslide continues, over 50 households may be affected during the monsoon season, highlighting the urgent need for remedial measures to ensure the safety and security of the people. On this, he earnestly appealed to the state government to promptly intervene and extend all possible assistance.

More than 17 households have been evacuated, and the demolition of public properties and survey from the department of Geology and Mining, in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority is still underway," he added.

The thanksgiving program was attended by hundreds of people, including three independent Councillors - Julie Chishi, Hukatoli Awomi, and Kito Zhimo - as well as Kakishe Zhimo, Councillor; Core Committee officials of Vikheshe Aye; Gaon Buras (GBs); Council members; friends, well-wishers, senior citizens of Alahuto; and supporters. The event concluded with a lunch, fostering a sense of community and gratitude.
