Countdown for Süngkotenem Beat Contest 2025 begins

Mokokchung, January 8 (MExN): Mopungchuket village in Mokokchung is set to come alive as the Süngkotenem Beat Contest 2025 and the Arrenpong Sports Festival draw near. Organized by the Mopungchuket Ait Laishir Telungjem (MALT), the village’s students’ union, the quadrennial music competition will be held on January 10, 2025, coinciding with the sports festival that kicks off on January 9.

MALT in a press release stated that this year will mark the return of the Süngkotenem Beat Contest after an eight-year hiatus due to the pandemic, promising an evening of electrifying performances by talented bands from across Nagaland.

The press statement also mentioned that complementing the musical extravaganza, the Arrenpong Sports Festival will feature a variety of events, including football, basketball, softball, table tennis, marathon racing, athletics, and traditional indigenous games. These competitions will showcase athleticism and foster community spirit among the eight units of MALT.

The beat contest will have a prize pool of Rs 1.5 lakh, with Rs 80,000 for the winner, Rs 50,000 for the runner-up, and additional individual awards for exceptional performances. The much-anticipated event is scheduled to begin at 4 pm on January 10, with Advisor TN Mannen attending as the special guest.

The festivities will commence with the 92nd general session of MALT, which will take place on January 8, setting the stage for an exhilarating blend of music and sports.
