Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): Work in the Court of District and Sessions Judge Dimapur has come to a standstill due to disconnected power lines. It is learnt that the District Court has been reeling under darkness since Monday due to non-payment of electric bill by the Department of Law and Justice.
The Court is virtually paralyzed as computer systems are not working. Except for one or two emergency cases – which are being handwritten, the Court is unable to obtain any CPCs or orders. All Photostats are being carried outside the court. It is learnt that the pending bills amounts to nearly 3 lakh rupees.
Some lawyers are discontent as their work is being severely affected and piling up. It is learnt that the concerned authority in Kohima has been intimated about the problem but there has been no response. Lawyers are sincerely hoping that the Law and Justice department pay the bills on time to avoid further accumulation of work, and also because summer is fast approaching.
