COVID-19 cases in Manipur reach 500 mark

Ten persons –three males and seven females – were tested positive during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in Manipur to 500 on Tuesday.


Of the 500 positive cases of COVID-19, 341 are active cases currently being treated at the COVID care facilities while the number of recovered cases is 159. The recovery rate in the State is 31.8 percent, according to COVID-19 Common Control Room.


Of the 10 fresh cases, four were confirmed at RIMS’s VRDL while six at JNIMS’s VRDL. Six of them are from Senapati district and the remaining four are from Imphal West district. They are all returnees from other states. 


All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, a statement from the control room said.


Till date, the State COVID-19 training team has trained 522 medical officers, 917 staff nurses, 349 allied health care providers, 902 auxiliary nurse/midwives and 1573 accredited social health activists, the statement further informed.


Meanwhile, after an inmate was found positive for the virus, Bal Bhavan located in Khuman Lampak in Imphal East district has been declared as a containment zone by an order of the Imphal East deputy commissioner on Tuesday.
The order declared the Bal Bhavan and its vicinity as containment zones under Para 12 of the Manipur Epidemic disease COVID-19 regulation 2020.  


The individual is a Delhi returnee from Chingmeirong of Imphal East district who is currently under quarantine at Bal Bhavan community quarantine centre was tested positive for the new coronavirus on Monday.
