COVID-19 Nagaland: Bed availability improves

The availability of beds for COVID-19 treatment has increased while there is zero hospitalisation in five districts of Nagaland, informed an official update. 

According to the information on ‘Bed Status’ available on the Nagaland COVID-19 Information App, out of total capacity of 1284 beds for COVID-19 patients across the State, only 101 were occupied and 1183 or 92.13%  were available or vacant on July 4. The updates for various districts were as of 3:00 pm on July 2, 3 and 4.   

The availability was 91.73% last week on July 26, when The Morung Express last accessed the data. 

The latest status also informed that the total number of beds has also increased from 1210 to 1284 on July 4. 

Status on oxygen beds, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with ventilator, ICU without ventilators and normal beds in districts hospitals are available on the app. 

Meanwhile, availability of beds was highest in terms of ICU beds with or without ventilators at 92.34%, followed by oxygen beds at 94.29% and normal beds at 89.35%.  

The vacancy of ICU beds was 84.04% on June 26 with of 79 out of 94 beds shown as available.

The availability of ICU beds with ventilator was highest at 96.06% with 102 vacant out of 110 capacities. 

Across the State, out of 479 normal beds, 428 were available indicating 89.35% availability, showing a slight decline from 90.84% last week. However, absolute numbers have been enhanced from 415 to 479 this week. 

Overall, 88.72% or 181 out of total 204 ICU beds across the State were vacant on June 26. This is a continued improvement from June 10, when the ICU vacancy status was 85.56%.  

Meanwhile, only in Noklak district, oxygen beds were shown to be fully occupied with total capacity of 8 beds. 

Detailed analysis of the data also revealed that there were zero hospitalization in five districts–Longleng, Kiphire, Noklak, Peren and Zunheboto while a total of 101 patients were under hospital care.

Bed-wise, 34 patients were on oxygen beds, while 16 were in ICU. A total of 55 patients were occupying normal beds.
