COVID-19: Nagaland registers 52 new cases, 3 deaths

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): The cumulative caseload of COVID-19 cases in Nagaland rose to 30,959 with 52 new confirmed cases on Tuesday. The new cases were detected among 1,567 samples that were tested in the last 24 hours, returning a daily positivity rate of 3.32 percent.

The new cases were reported from four districts—Kohima (27), Dimapur (19), Mokokchung (4), and Phek (2). A total of 27 cases were detected among traced contacts, 22 from self tests and random tests, 2 from returnees/travellers and 1 from armed forces/security personnel, according to the daily bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.

The state also reported 3 more deaths in the last 24 hours—2 from Dimapur and 1 from Kohima, taking the total COVID death toll to 642. This excludes the 15 other deaths that were classified as ‘non COVID deaths (with COVID positivity),’ in the bulletin.

On the other hand, 43 patients of which, 33 were from Dimapur, 5 from Kohima, 4 from Mokokchung, and 1 from Wokha, recovered from the disease on Tuesday. With this, the number of recoveries in the state rose to 28,878.

According to the bulletin, there are currently 470 active cases in the state out of which 368 are asymptomatic. A total of 74 cases are mild symptomatic and 4 are moderate on oxygen. Among thoe cases with severe symptoms, 16 are receiving oxygen support, 5 are admitted in ICUs without ventilator and 3 are said to be in the ICU on ventilator support. 
District-wise distribution of cases

Among the districts, Dimapur has the highest number of active cases with 212, followed by Kohima (110), and Mokokchung (55). Tuensang has 37 active cases, Phek (23), Wokha (12), Kiphire (10), Longleng (4), Zunheboto (4), and Peren (3).

Data reporting for Noklak district comes under the Tuensang district as there is no separate surveillance unit for Noklak.
A total of 954 cases have ‘migrated’ to other parts of the country, as per the IDSP.
