In a break from high spikes seen in the recent past, Nagaland saw the second lowest spike of COVID-19 for this month at just 37 fresh cases on October 26. 

The lowest daily spike this month was on October 8 when 21 new cases were reported. Thereafter, there were considerable surge in daily cases, particularly during the last two weeks.  

“A total of 37 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected today – 28 in Kohima, 8 in Dimapur and 1 in Mon. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 8,663,” the daily briefing on COVID-19 from Nagaland's Home Commissioner informed. 

“Out of the 8,663 positive cases, there 26 total recoveries so far are 6,720. The active cases are 1,833 and there have been 27 deaths,” it said. 

As per the severity of symptoms 1,741 active cases are asymptomatic, 69 active cases are mild, 12 active cases are moderate on oxygen, 3 active cases are severe on oxygen, 2 actives cases are critical without oxygen, 3 active cases are critical with oxygen and 3 active cases are on ventilator, it added.

The distribution across various categories of people according to the briefing are as follow: 3,807 cases of Armed Forces/ Police, 1,635 cases of Returnees, 2,800 cases of Traced Contacts and 421 cases of Frontline Workers.

A total of 60,224 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR and results of 59,184 samples have been received, the briefing said. 

 In addition, a total 32,816 samples have been sent for testing on Truenat and results of 32,777 samples have been received. Through Rapid Antigen Test 3,563 samples have been tested, it added.
