Nagaland witnessed the highest single day surge in COVID-19 cases on July 23, with the State recording 90 cases.
Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister, Pangnyu Phom informed that of the 90 new cases, 61 were from Kohima, 26 from Dimapur, 2 from Peren and 1 from Phek.
With this, the total number of cases in the State now stands at 1174. With 530 recoveries so far, the number of active cases in the State stands at 644.
Of the 90 cases detected on July 23, the Health Department informed that 43 are from the armed forces, 42 from within Quarantine Centres, 1 frontline worker and 4 traced contacts. Among those detected within the Quarantine Centres, the Health Department informed that 5 are returnees and 37 are non-resident technical persons on duty.
According to government data, 640 active cases are asymptomatic and 2 active cases are mild, 1 active case is moderate and 1 active case is in ICU on ventilator.
Keziekie containment zone lifted
The Kohima DC has meanwhile lifted the containment zone at Keziekie Colony Kohima, Municipal Ward No. 3 and declared that all normal activities at Keziekie Colony Kohima, Municipal Ward No. 3 is allowed to resume as per various SOPs of the Government.
A report from the DIPR informed that contact tracing of the COVID-19 positive person was carried out in the area by the CMO co-ordination Team led by District Surveillance Officer and Epidemiologist Kohima and all the primary and secondary contacts were identified and tested for the virus and found to be negative.
In total, 232 households were visited and 216 contacts were traced, out of which 5 were High Risk Contacts and 211 were Low Risk Contacts.
Nathan Hostel QC Mkg declared containment zone
In Mokokchung, the Deputy Commissioner has declared the Nathan Hostel Quarantine Centre as a containment zone. In an order, the Mokokchung DC said that this was done in view of confirmation of one positive case amongst returnees lodged at the Quarantine Centre.
GM NST Office & Railway Parcel Section Office Dimapur sealed
In Dimapur, the DC has ordered sealing of the office of the General Manager, NST Dimapur, the Railway Parcel Section Office, Railway Union Employees Colony and Railway Police DS Flat with immediate effect. This decision was taken as measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, informed a report from the DIPR.
