COVID: Nagaland reports lowest 7-day tally in 6 months

The weekly COVID-19 tally in Nagaland went below the 100-figure mark for the first time since the second wave hit. The 7-day total of 94 new cases for the week (October 30-November 5) happened to be the lowest registered in 6 months since the 116 cases reported in between April 10-16, a period when cases began to resurge. Dimapur accounted for 53 of the 7-day tally, Kohima- 14, Mokokchung- 12, Tuensang- 5, Kiphire- 4, Phek and Wokha- 3 each. Mon, Longleng, Peren and Zunheboto did not report a single new case. 

The state also reported 121 recoveries from COVID with Dimapur alone accounting for 85. Kohima reported 13 recoveries, Mokokchung and Tuensang- 8 each, Wokha- 4, Phek- 2 and Longleng- 1. Mon, Kiphire, Peren and Zunheboto reported nil recovery.  The death toll for the week was 4— Dimapur- 2, Kohima- 1, Tuensang- 1. 

The state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) in its weekly roundup released on November 6, said that the overall weekly sample positivity rate for the state was 2.2%, while adding that it has remained below 5% for the last 12 weeks. However, Kiphire and Tuensang reported positivity of more than 5% from the week. 

There were 23 new COVID-19 hospital admissions from the week – all from Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung. 

Vaccination crosses 12-lakh mark

While detection reduced, there was a significant drop in vaccination in Nagaland. The IDSP data revealed that only 18,071 vaccine doses were administered in the past week, dropping from the 28,192 administered in the preceding week.  

Meanwhile, the total vaccines administered crossed the 12-lakh mark, increasing to 12,17,940 doses.  Further, the targeted population, who have received the second dose increased 5,04,139. 

Dimapur, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung and Mon remain the most vaccinated districts.
