COVID spike in Nagaland as 199 test positive

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 12 (MExN): Nagaland recorded a massive spike in the COVID-19 cases on January 12, with 199 people testing positive for the virus. This was out of 1,277 test results. Meanwhile, 15 new recoveries were also reported on the day.

The spike in cases was contributed by 161 returnees and travelers who tested positive. Meanwhile, 36 other cases were detected through self testing and random sampling, 1 from the armed forces and 1 frontline worker. 

Dimapur recorded the highest number of new cases with 187, followed by Kohima (10), and Mokokchung (2). 

The total caseload of the State is now 32,530. Of this 30,439 people have recovered from the infection, There are now 242 active COVID-19 cases in the State. The number of fatalities due to COVID-19 remained at 687. 

Of the active cases in the State, 221 are asymptomatic, 19 have mild symptoms, 1 has moderate symptoms and 1 has severe symptoms.
