The need to strengthen the bond of unity and oneness amongst the Chakhesang community was stressed upon during the 34th general session of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) cum Chakhesang Day here today held under the theme ‘Unity through justice.
The main speaker, Rev Dr Vezopa Tetseo, Executive Secretary, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council stressed on the need to propagate unity and emphasis justice on a larger scale. He said unity is an essential component to receive all rightful blessings from God and live in harmony with one another. Rev Tetseo hoped for an end to all divisions among the community.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker, Chotisuh Sazo in his greetings challenged the Chakhesang community to maintain their traditional practices and customs. He stated that the Chakhesang people are known for honesty, simplicity and hard work. He added that the democratic system at the grassroots level, respect to elders and sense of patriotism are assets for the Chakhesang community.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary for Planning & Coordination, Evaluation, Monitoring Cell and Taxes, Neiba Kronu called upon the Chakhesang community to focus on developing the economy and give importance to human resource development. He advised the Chakhesang Public Organization, Chakhesang Students’ Union and Chakhesang Youth Front to thoroughly discuss both their strengths and weaknesses and frame a comprehensive strategy to take the Chakhesang community forward on economy and human resource development.
Meanwhile, the CPO search committee has announced the new team of CPO office bearers for the tenure 2016-18. The new team is led by Kekhwengulo Lea as President, with Ariyi Nienu as Vice President, Mutsivoyi Kotso as General Secretary, Dozhohii Tunyi as Joint Secretary, Wekhrope Marhu as Press Secretary, Vezoto (Jack) Dozo as Finance Secretary, John Lohe as Treasurer and Neilo Khape and Besupra Swuro as representatives to Naga Hoho. Earlier, the Chakhesang Day function was chaired by CPO outgoing President, Sovenyi. A cultural exhibition and feast marked the day. Vote of thanks was proposed by Veziihii Keyho, Treasurer CPO.
