CPO laments insufficient supply of piglet to Phek

Kohima, September 13 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) on Monday observed that there has been ‘no substantial progress’ following the ban on import of pork to Phek district within the jurisdiction of CPO since 2000. 

CPO President, Mikha Kenye and General Secretary, Veduvo Rhakho in a press release stated that “no substantial progress was visible in this regards because of insufficient supply of piglet for rearing purpose and demand for consumption are far reached.”

Presently, there is two Pig Breeding Centres at Phek Hq and Sathazu village, but it hardly meet the require demand of the people for rearing purpose which rather looks almost defunct, it lamented.

In the form of resolution, adopted during its executive council meeting on September 11 at Chida Resort hosted by Khezhakeno village, the CPO urged the department Animal Husbandry and Veterinary services revitalize the breeding centres “if not, to handover the breeding centre to private party.”
 
Suggest seminar on pork ban, agri-allied product
The CPO stated that in order to boost in the production of agri-allied sector, it is equally important to identify soil feasibility on area wise. In this regards, it suggested that a systematic and proper mechanism need to be workout with concerned department.

The executive meeting resolved to have a seminar on pork ban and agri-allied product.

CPO stated that an organic market at CPO building Dimapur, is likely be to inaugurated by November 2021.
 
Preservation of forest
The executive council meeting also re-affirmed CPO’s 38th General Session Resolution No.2 for preservation of forest under CPO jurisdictions like Zanubu, Kapamodzü Range and other forest.

The meeting also decided to have CPO general executive council meeting in the 2nd week of December, 2021 at Zapami village.

The meeting endorsed Chakhesang Cultural Organisation (CCO) to tackle any issue that arises with traditional attires of Chakhesang community.

Further, CPO meeting of Trustee Board and Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) has been fixed tentatively in the 2nd week of October, 2021 at Dimapur to review the present CPO building construction.
